Lake District Wedding Photography // Cat and Chris
Cat and Chris both live in Scotland, but chose the beautiful and stunning scenery of Cumbria for their Lake District Wedding Photography. Cat wore a stunning silk gown by Glory Days of York, and the boys were decked out in the finest Scottish tweed by Walker Slater, Edinburgh. They also had a custom tartan designed for the wedding, which was a beautiful touch! The beautiful flowers from Fletcher and Foley Floral Design echoed the wild beauty of the countryside we were in, and it was rain AND shine many time over throughout the day!
We braved the Lake District weather and headed to the church, where Chris was anticipating her arrival with excitement. Inside the church was it brimming full of love and laughter, where guests were singing and chatting and joking ahead of Cats arrival. After a wonderful ceremony the wind claimed the bridal umbrella and hugs and confetti were floating around the couple on the wild winds! We then took their classic car up to Coniston to take some couple portraits. Cat had told me wanted her pictures natural, happy and wild, and the landscape was stunning. The clouds were moody and dramatic, and the couple in front of my lens were ecstatic and crazy in love, it was perfection!
After a wonderful (and windy!) twenty minutes, we headed back down the hills towards their fabulous reception in Hawkshead, nestled next to Esthwaite Water. Their guests awaited them with drinks and a warm blanket, and the festivities began in earnest. Everyone was treated to a full hog roast, and wonderful naked wedding cake covered in summer fruits. The speeches were heartfelt and the joy literally beamed from Chris’s face as he recounted everything Cat meant to him. The best man somehow managed to get every single guest involved in a huge chain-type move which was a first for me to see at a wedding and quite a sight! After dinner we were treated to a huge rainbow stretching out over the lake, which resulted in so many pictures as I could’t believe my luck!
As the evenings festivities were kicking off, Reely Jiggered gave everyone a fantastic ceilidh, and Chris even performed a special two songs for his new bride after changing into a kilt! Their wedding really had everything, sunshine, rain, an epic bouquet toss, the bride being hoisted above her guests heads in celebration, rainbows, dancing, and two people who were glowing with happiness all day long. I’m super lucky to witness and record all these incredible moments for my clients, the trust they invest in me is something I never take for granted. Congratulations to Cat and Chris!
