SUMMER WEDDING IN DERBYSHIRE // KATIE AND ROB

THIS INCREDIBLE OUTDOOR WEDDING IN DERBYSHIRE WAS ONE OF MY 2018 HIGHLIGHTS!

Bridal prep

Katie got ready at her parents house surrounded by all her bridesmaids and family, and the atmosphere was full of excitement. The bride handed out some of her home made bridesmaids gifts, clutch bags embroidered with her whole bridal party. The wedding party then jumped into a fancy wedding car to get to the ceremony. Rob got ready at a cottage down the road with all his best men helping him stay calm and look dapper. The boys travelled to the ceremony in an open top car.

The vows

The ceremony was a beautiful service in a stunning church at Chesterfield. surrounded by colourful stained glass windows and the smiles of friends and family. During the ceremony they had several beautiful readings from friends and family. It was a beautiful way of involving everyone in the ceremony and a real tear-jerker. Katie’s brother just couldn’t get his timings right which meant plenty of smiles and laughter!

After the ceremony

The reception was in the field overlooking the valley at the front of Katie’s parents house. They chose the venue because it’s their family home and they could have the place for the whole weekend. It was a summer wedding, which meant the outdoor reception was a perfect choice. I love shooting outdoor weddings because the photo ops are endless. The marquee was set up and decorated with wildflowers, lanterns and lovely personal details including an incredible desk used for cheese and crackers.

They had a cocktail drinks reception in the afternoon, and a live band in the evening. I loved their personalised cocktails, aperol spritz and espresso martinis. Katie hired an ice cream cart as a wedding present to Rob because he’s obsessed with vanilla ice-cream! It was a huge hit with the flowergirls and the rest of the guests.

For dinner they served lamb followed by a cracking lemon meringue pie which was loved by all the guests. The first dance was a twirl on the floor accompanied by no less than 12 confetti cannons set off by the bridal party,, and they finished off the evening with a huge party. The highlight being Rob hoisted into the air by his best men!
